Customer Service: Is It a Service of the Past?
What Does Inconsistent Customer Service Cost a Company in the Age of Social Media?

Day 5 – Part 9 - Customer Service Is Still a Service
So, is customer service a service of the past?
I hope not.
But perhaps we need to remind ourselves what the word “service” actually requires.
It requires more than completing a transaction.
It requires recognizing that there is another human being on the other side of the counter, telephone, email, chat window, or computer screen.
Customers should not have to wonder whether their race, age, gender, appearance, accent, disability, economic status, or any other personal characteristic affected the dignity and courtesy they received.
And employees should be equipped with the training, expectations, leadership, and support necessary to provide consistent service across customer interactions.
Leaders ask Yourself and provide your Thoughts as it pertains to your organization.
Has efficiency, technology, speed, or completing the transaction begun to replace the human element of service in your organization?
When customers leave your business, do they simply have what they purchased—or do they also leave feeling that their time, concerns, and business were valued?
